  1. Modify the exhaust system that way and you will have a really poor running car. I expect one of the "mufflers" is a catalytic converter and cannot be removed. If you want to do some performance mods, go to a shop and get recommendations. ADDED>>>>>Take a chill pill.....and follow the suggestion of going to a shop for recommendations on what to do.

  2. Well, no, there are never TWO mufflers in the system - you either have a Catalytic converter, with either a muffler, or a "resonator"..(same thing, basically ). I assume you only have ONE exhaust pipe from front to back? The thing to cut out would BE the muffler, and leave the cat, which can muffle the exhaust, but still leave a throaty sounding car. But you can't cut the Cat and leave the muffler.

HP is also determined by the car's computer and design, and if you reduce the backpressure in your exhaust, your car MAY run worse...so you need to be careful in what you modify without serious research into your make/model's likely response to that. If you don't know car computers, and have an exhaust analyzer handy to check what is coming out after you change the exhaust, then you may find you get LESS HP afterwards. Not like an older car with no cat. Don't do it without further research!

  3. no its not necessary but i would take it to a shop to have it done and it may be louder

  4. I don't think it has two mufflers, It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong, but I'm thinking you are looking at either your catalytic or a resonator.

Catalytic answer is probably not a good idea, unless you have an old car and don't have emissions testing.

Resonator probably although just by cutting it out doesn't mean that it will sound cool or have more horse.  Sometimes it just ends up sounding like a car with F%$#$% up exhaust.

If you really do have two mufflers than you probably have headers or someother such similar setup and therefore cutting off a muffler would be like just having a straight pipe out of half of your engine, and would be very loud.  There are kits available for exhaust if you are interested in increasing horsepower through exhaust.  You don't say what kind of car you have though so it's all just theory.

  5. It can reduce your overall performance that is most people convert single to dual. You may have trouble finding a system to fit and it may have to be made from straight pipe and bent to the shape needed at a higher cost.

  6. That second "muffler" may be your catalytic converter, which is on there for emission purposes. Cutting it off would give you more power but good luck ever trying to sell that car. lol Just make sure, you know what it is before you cut it off.
