Question:

I think my cat may be sick -- he cant meow

I am a little worried. I adopted a baby kitten from the humane society. She had a little cold and my older cat seemed to get a little sick. But now he is eating and drinking again, but it seems like he has a sore throat. When he meows it is very faint and scratchy, like he is straining to get it out. Is this something I should be worried about? I am unable to take him to the vet until i get paid in two weeks, so i am hoping it is nothing too serious.

  1. WILL YOUR VET ALLOW PAYMENTS. LUCKILY MY VET WILL TAKE PAYMENTS. CALL AHEAD.

MIGHT BE PRENUMONIA, BUT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW UNTIL YOU GET HER/ HIM THERE

  2. It can be serious in a young kitten, so 2 weeks is too long to wait.  And, your kitten is feeling miserable.

Contact you vet and see if it is possible to work out a payment plan.  Many vets are quite willing to help.

Good luck and thanks for adopting!

  3. Congrats on your new addition  :)

Young kittens can "go downhill" very quickly.  They can appear to be getting better one day and then before you know it they have pneumonia.

I am not saying this will happen, but two weeks is too long to wait.  I would try to work something out with the Vet or see if the Humane Society where you got her will give you a hand.  Remember you need to worry about your other cat as well.

    Good Luck!!
