I already have two, I just thought I needed two others. I have them with some angel fish, and a candy striped pleco.

  1. I don't believe clown loaches are livebearers, so can't be pregnant... the male fertilizes eggs outside of thef emales body if they were to spawn.

  2. Okay basically she will look bigger than another female fish if she is pregnant.

You can either get a breeder net or a smaller tank setup (cycled and established) and place her on either. This will give her some quiet time before she gives birth.

Normally, she will seclude herself from the other fish. Unfortunately, this is also a sign if she is very weak and dying, so just keep an eye on her. Once she has given birth to a fry, you may see her swimming about, but when she is about to give birth to another fry, she may hide again. The birth happens very quickly and depending on her size, she may have from 1 to probably 50 or so.

    I hope that helps

P.s you can also get in contact with the store they will help you.

  3. I would have to say it has a pouch because you overfed her. Clown loaches are one of the only fish I know of that have NEVER bred in captivity - this by anyone other than a guy in the 50's who said he did, but didn't have verification.  They are all wild caught and can only be caught once per year.  They are pretty difficult to keep, needing soft, clean water.  They also don't like to be alone, so if you have room and really want to keep it happy (and alive), you need to get two more.   I have 5 that I've had for 1 1/2  years along with Bolivian and Balloon Rams, so this should give you some idea of what the tank conditions need to be.

Good luck with her (and don't feed her too much!)

  4. definitely NOT pregnant, clown loaches have to be at least 7 inches and they have very certain needs and the water quality has to be a certain way, very confusing and does not happen on accident like guppy and molly breeding might, to breed. Plus they lay eggs, they are not live bearers, so they can not be pregnant. I have a small school of baby clown loaches, and I have never seen that happen with my fish, so i don't know what the silver thing is you are talking about, but you can rule out being "pregnant" since they lay eggs.

If you do want to breed once they are older, this site can tell you how, and yes they have been bred in captivity, they are just not commercialy bred yet.
