I think my computer has a virus from limewire

Question

every time i do something that takes a bit of power it crashes. im getting really pissed cuz i lost a lot of progress on a report i was doing. can someone please tell me if there is a way to restore my computer without losing any files or any tips on how to fix it? thx.

I hate limewire i dont support illegil downloads. im a horrible speller n.n  get rid of it and scan your computer for viruses umm delete cookies and clear private data if any thing got into a file from limewire delete it.

Try using a system restore.

1. go to start control panel

2. click on performance and maintenance

3.look in the left hand colomn for system restore

4. click the link and follow the steps.

U will be choseing an earlier date to restore your computer back to. Pick a date before u had the problem.

ok "limewire" doesnt give youa  virus, but if you downloaded some dumb *** spyware thats your own fault i recommend download malwarebyte's anti maleware program its free and removes virues

yep, that is the real hazard when stealing software and music.

go download Lavasoft's Ad aware, then a good antivirus.

Both can be found at www.downloads.com

AVG is a good anti virus.

Get rid of lime wire because lime wire is full of viruses like trogan horse. If you can still get online go and download a antivirus program and run a virus scan you can go to free.avg.com to get Avg anti virus its free and it is good or you may go to Avast.com its called avast anti virus and its also is a good anti virus program and dont forget to run a full virus scan it may take a whil depending on how many files you have on you computer. GOOD LUCK!!!

Go to the above page to run a BitDefender online virus scan.  It will scan your computer for free and let you know if you do or do not have a virus.  If it turns out you do, go to this page:

Find the type of virus the scan reported and download the removal tool.

First of all don't use limewire, it has many viruses/spyware, but if you do want to use it, download any files from limewire then scan it with your anti-spyware or anti-virus.

Second of all, I'd scan my computer for viruses and spywares. For a free anti-virus, download AVG free edition. And for a free anti-spyware, you can load up to more than 1, so either download Spybot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft Adaware 2008. (3 of these anti-programs can be found on the sources on the bottom of my reply.) Also, RUN FULL SCANS WITH THOSE.

And don't listen to anyone who says limewire doesn't give you viruses, the fact is, IT DOES!

You can use antivirus...but the bad news is that virus really infects your computer, there is no other way than format your hard drive. In the future, when you format your hard drive, you can make 2 partitions. One is for programs, and one is for data. So, when you have this thing happens again, you won't lose your data.
