Okay I'll have one internet explorer up and all of a sudden it keeps opening more pages. If I try to close the pages, more just keep popping up. It will open like 26 of the same pages before I go to task manager. What is going on, how can I stop this it's happened twice already.

  1. you definitely have a virus, format your computer, get a decent firewall/anti-virus and get firefox!!

  2. Internet Explorer is a piece of ****.  It has a ton of viruses.  Use firefox.

  3. Why don't you try System Restore, you might have jacked up something in your system. Go to the nearest restore point and see what happens, it can't hurt anything. Look under Systems Tools.

  4. Sounds like you have some malware. I would download and run SpyBot. It's free, and good for getting rid of malware.

It's not a problem with IE - malware will open Firefox windows just the same.

  5. well you can get firefox but that won't solve it. go to www.cnet.com its a safe site and download Ad-aware 2008 free and run that it should clean out the program causing the issue

  6. Doesn't matter if you have norton or not, you have a computer virus and you need a bit more to take care of it....

Now, I will list the locations for new virus and spyware, free downloads.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com

    Download, AVG and SPYBOT

    http://www.commodo.com

They offer virus control and firewalls....

Goodluck, even if you don't choose mine as best answer, try the virus and spyware anyway.....

  8. You either:

    1. Need a pop-up blocker. If you have firefox, it already is built to block pop-ups. If you have internet explorer, you can download google/yahoo toolbars which have pop-up blockers.

    2. Have a virus/spyware. You can download spybot to get rid of those.

I recommend to use firefox because it's faster and safer.

  9. You just need to clean your computer up a bit. Try deleting your cookies and files every once in a while. Also you can buy more ram but that's pretty much 100+$ for nothing.

  10. You have a virus. Try downloading AVG Free from http://free.avg.com and using that to scan your system. Also check for spyware using Spybot from www.safer-networking.org
