I think my computer might have a virus?

i have an anti virus program but it wont catch it. the reason why i think it has on is each time i run my anti virus program it shows less and less files, i don't mean one or two files like thousands of files at a time go missing? some one help me!

If you suspect or confirm that your computer is infected with a computer virus. Download a free antivirus program and scan your computer then you should be able to remove it. avg is what i use and i have had no problems, also i have search and destroy program which both of them together will get the virus....
