I think my ear peircing is infected!! help!?

i got the top part of my ear pierced on 5th July. i have been taking care of it, cleaning it & all. but few days ago it started to feel bruised & i noticed there's a swelling on the back side of the piercing? is that normal? should i go to the doctor?

If it was at the top through the cartridge it may take a very long time to heal. Try using saline to clean it or sea salt with water. Don't be aggressive with the cleaning and don't over clean it. I had my ear pierced up there as well and it took almost a year for it to be completely healed and the bump is also normal with this type of piercing. Unless the bump is painful or pus filled etc. it is okay. If things don't improve definitely see a doctor about it and possibly even though you don't want to...take it out.

If there is a bump it might be something called Key lode. This is were the skin that got pierced has gotten something caught in it or has a reaction to what was being used. All you can do is to take out the ear ring, let is seal and get re pierced. It happened to me 1 yr ago and i got re pierced and my ears are now fine.

thats the same thing that happened to me, i have both sides done. but nobody told me about it then. now i have my eyebrow peirced and it happend to me to.and people told me what to do. DONT use the stuff they gave you to clean it, it rarely works & you might be allergic. Use warm-hot SALT water. just regular salt. and clean it twice a day. but make sure after 10 minutes to rinse it. after a week it should be fine. and do the saltwater cleaning about 2-3 times a week after its all healed up to keep it clean. goodluck!

did you share needles? if you did then you are probally infected.

by the way is their a bump? bruises and swelling are signs of infections i would recommend you go to the doctor.

Yeh sounds like it's gotten a little infected. Can happen to anyone. Soak that part of your ear in boiling water with salt dissolved in it for 10-15 mins or so. Let it cool a little before you put your ear in it tho, so you don't burn yourself.
