Question:

I think my foot tattoo is infected..?

i got a tattoo on the top of my foot about 10 days ago, and i thought everything was going fine with it,

but this morning when i got up out of bed, and went to put my cream on it, i was gutted to find that the scab had come off the star,( which is the main part of the tattoo) during the night when i was asleep, i also think the star part is infected as there is a small amount of gunge there as well, and it does look slightly red, even though i"ve had no discomfort with it.

i have 4 other tattoo"s and this has never happened before, i got all my tattoo"s done at the same place and the guy is very hygienic and thorough in his job, i"ve bathed it and put cream on as i was told and can"t understand what"s gone wrong.

has this ever happened to anyone else and what did you do about it?,

do i need to go the doctors or should i just leave it for a couple of days to see what happen"s?, and the most important question is, if the star part is discoloured due to the scab falling off will i be able to get that part tattoo"ed again?......

thank"s in advance for your answer"s

  1. go back to him asap, you should be able to get it redone yes, they give you 12 weeks here (local shop) to go back.

    the parlour will advise you.

  2. I have one on my forearm that has done the same as yours..But it was my fault to be honest..I used the wrong cream..Savlon seems to be good enough for it.

  3. Have you been wearing shoes/socks on it?

It might be slightly irritated, but if it continues to be gungey, or it gets worse, go back to your studio, and they'll be able to advise you. Keep it clean and follow how it feels.

As for the discoloured, do you mean the colour has dropped? Most studio's offer touchups for free/not alot after it has initially healed just to make sure it's prefect.

  4. use strong antiseptic cream on the bit where the scab came off in case it is infected but otherwise I don't see why they can't touch up the star when the swelling and grunge is gone

  5. Either go back to where you had it done or go to your doctor.

  6. i think you need a doctor

  7. Is it hot, red, swollen or pus-filled?  If so, you may need some antibiotics.  Overnight, bath, antiseptic cream, brufen if swollen, raise leg when sitting/sleeping to increase circulation.

Teh star might still be there, but you need to ensure there is no infection...having a hole in your leg will look worse than being 'starless'.
