So this new listeria outbreak as occurred and personally given our population I find 15 deaths are not something to strike fear in my heart. Specially because I buy local meat and I know that the meat in restaurants is cooked. Anyways I have a friend who is a vegan and a big supporter of PETA. I usually just ignore her when she accuses me of having no heart or anything because she is an extremist. Anyways, she said that this listeria outbreak should teach people a lesson that eating meat is dangerous. And then she went on and on about it (to the point of making me really nervous about her mind). Bascially she said the people who died deserved to die because they ate meat....

That got me thinking? Could have this contaniment been placed by some freak? I've heard of extremist doing some pretty heartless things in order to get there way. I thought I knew my friend but listening to her rant I could see her doing something like this if she could just to protect animals and to make people from eating meat.

BUt my question is two fold. Is this possible?

what should I do about my friend?

  1. It's possible.  There are MANY people around us who are psycho, have anti-social tendencies & like the Florida "tot mom" Casey who has apparently killed her daughter Caylee, are truly crazy but appear on the surface to be okay.

I have a friend who regularly "Goes OFF" on whatever or whoever big time!   She's sure to die of a major heart attack one day because she gets SO angry!  I thought it was just her situation in life, but it's like, everyday for a year.  I think it's BiPolar disease & untreated, but it IS a form of mental illness.  So it makes me think that there are people walking around with all kinds of mental disease untreated.

That's really scarey about your friend.  I mean, agreeing with the concept, or finding the logic is okay, but to go on a rant & agree with the deaths of innocent people & such an outlandish idea does seem a little 'off' !
