well I left my gecko home for about 2 hours and when I came home there was this black thing in her cage...at first I thought she had used the bathroom because that's what it looked like then I had a closer look and there was something lime green underneath it...so I'm wondering if someone could tell me if its an egg or not cuz she was actually pregnant..

  1. First, it depends on what kind of gecko it is.  Are the eggs visible within her body, and how many is she supposed to be capable of clutching at once?  She should lay them all at once, not one here, and one there...

Eggs should be white, and leathery feeling to the touch.  They 'toughen' as they dry a bit.  If ruptured, the developing or undevoping material inside should be a creamy whitish.  Unless she was sick, or an egg ruptured while inside her body, which could result in it appearing dark, and could be life threatening.

Since you say she was "actually pregnant," I assume you are caging her with a male of the same species?

Not knowing all the facts - it's impossible to give you an informed opinion.

I hope your lizard is fine.  If you truly believe it's an egg - refrigerate it, and take it and the lizard to your vet.

For more exacting information on your particular gecko species; I would recommend that you begin by googling it, and its breeding cycle.

'Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  2. Maybe a picture would help. But I think it's poo. May not though.

  3. Eggs are white. It's poooooooo.
