Well yesterday she looked fine with a little bit of soft brown p**p. Other than that she was fine. I recently changed her cage, but I rubbed everything with her scent of the old cage. I feed her fruits and veggies every 2-4 days and well today I picked her up and saw her bottom was wet. Her p**p still looks fine. HELP?

  1. Your hamster has diarrhea and must have been from foods that you have given it that was other than their dry diet from pet stores. Avoid lettuce and make sure she gets dry as much possible. She must drink a lot of water because all that water is being emptied out too much.

Please refer to online sources for special care instructions as this is a very serious case if that's what she is experiencing.

  2. Take her to the vet as soon as you can!

  3. Take your hamster to the vet! if you cant at the moment keep your hamster in a warm, dry cage with good ventilation. Give your hamster warm fluids, because dehydration could cause its death. You can try feeding it through a syringe without a needle or a juicebox straw if he doesn't drink from a bowl.

Unflavoured pedialite, availiable in most grocery stores, can be fed to your hamster until the vetrinarian reccomends something else. This can be used as an emergency rehydration fluid. Also, remove food for the first 24 hours.

Dri tail has also helped many hamsters to recover from wet tail if you cant afford a vet. You can buy this at a pet store.

Since stress causes this, lots of vitamin B can help you avoid this in the future. One way to give your hamster lots of vitamin B is to feed your hamster yeast. Feeding your hamster nutritional yeast or half a plain yeast pill weekly can help. Avoid feeding bakers yeast, because it has a bitter taste to hamsters. A pinch of nutritional yeast (which you can find in most health food stores) or half a plain yeast pill (yeast pills are found in pet stores in the cat and dog section)

Good Luck and I really hope your hamster gets better!

  4. Soft stools or diarrhea in an otherwise healthy hamster may be an indication that she is being fed on to much sugar (fruit sugar), or green vegetables. Any sign of soft stools or diarrhea unaccompanied by disease will not cause the hamster any discomfort or pain. In this case there is usually no loss of appetite, or any decrease in activity. Very frequently, the soft stools or diarrhea is often due to something in the diet that is taken in excess. In her case this sounds like too much fruit, the sugar can come from eating fruit, as fruit contains fructose: Fructose is a naturally occurring sugar that is found in fruit, and some root vegetables.

The sweeter the fruit, the more concentrated the sugars, Melons, and pears etc: Fructose also causes water retention in the intestines this leaves stools very soft. Green vegetables will also cause lose stools. These include dried peas, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and Lettuce. These will lead to bloating, loose stools, and even diarrhea depending on the amount eaten and other factors. Moderating intake of these should see an improvement. Keep her on dry food only for the next few days; give her some dry wheat biscuits these are brilliant for bulking up the stools.

  5. Don't give her veggies or fruits too often. Take her to the vet. This might be really serious. The vet can help. Meanwhile, do as the "hamster xpert" says.

  6. take her to the vet quick! u cannot give it veggies 2-4 days!! u have to give it too them once a week!! or if its night time, tell ur parents to take her 2morow.

  7. You have to definitely take her to a vet immediately.

Abnormal pooping, even a little bit of soft brown p**p and wet bottom, is normally a sign of wet tail or severe diarrhea and unless you take her to a vet for treatment, it can be fatal.

Keep feeding her lots of water until you take her to a vet, if she does not take it, force feed her with a syringe since dehydration is the main problem with diarrhea or wet tail.

  8. what ever hamster xpert said i completly agree.
