My cat had 7 kittens and 2 died shortly after birth. Ok, so now the kittens are 4 weeks old and one of them hasn't grown since birth!! You can feel her rips and backbone but she still walks around. She has teeth, her eyes are open, and is starting to get teeth, too. But she just hasn't grown. Her eyes are like huge and when the mom picks up a healthy kitten, you know how the kitten stays still? Well, she sticks her feat out backwards. She meows non-stop. What should I do?

  1. wow that is very unusual. as far as I know as long as she is acting healthy you shouldn't worry to to much. I would call the vet however and explain the situation and see what they say. they may need to examine the kitten. good luck :)

  2. take her to the vet ASAP .. shes so adorable

  3. Definatly take her to a vet.

  4. Tube feed that kitten! It will surely die if you don't. Take it to the vet and get a nutrition supplement (I got one called Viralys). And ask the vet to show you how to tube feed. Be very careful when tube feeding. If you get it into the lungs the kitten will likely die of pneumonia. The vet will put tape around the tube to show you how far it needs to go in. If you do go into the lungs you can feel it. Don't push through! Take it out and try again. Eventually your kitten should swallow the tube itself with a little fussing.

  5. If it is the runt of the litter then it is natural for it to be smaller than the others by a great amount and if the mother is still nursing the kittens u can actually milk the mother and feed the runt by a bottle or sometimes they will sell a formula for kittens. Just make sure you keep watch over it sometimes when the mother will sense weak offspring she will kill them, but your best bet is to take it to your local vet and find out if it has any infections, diseases, or any other problems. Good luck

  6. WOW! that is a huge size difference!!!  You very obvioulsy have a runt in the litter & what you may need to do is supervise feeding times to BE SURE The smaller kitten is getting enough to eat.....the runt of the litter is VERY often pushed out of the way during feedings by the bigger kittens. If the runt still is haveing a hard time getting to eat you may need to try to get the mom cat to nurse just the runt seperatly from the rest OR you may need to go to botle feeding the runt until she puts on enough weight to be able to hold her own during mealtime w the other kittens.  Just to be sure there isnt anything else wrong a trip to the vet would be a really good idea......tho you say she is doing everything else the others are so Im thinking she is just too small to fight her way to a teat to nurse & is hence suffering malnutrition.....in nature a lot of times the runt will die as is the way of nature, survival of the fittest...the weaker ones will die off if they cant hold their own....but being as these are not wild cats you should be able to help her to survive & grow into a happy healthy kitten........just make sure she gets more food.  Google hand nursing kittens or kitten care(runts)

  7. She's so adorable ,but sounds like something is more wrong with her than just being a runt,if you value her, like I think you do,you will get her to a vet asap.

    good luck

  8. you should take her to the vet for a checkup to find out if something is wrong and if it is what do you need to do to help her out because its a possibility that she can die like the other two

  9. Maybe, but please do yourself and the kitty's self by bringing it to the vet right away. Don't listen to anyone online these days because they will prob. say that its fine.. So just get it checked out by the vet just to be sure.

  10. Take her to the vet she may have a disorder or somehting poor little thing. Definatly take her to a vet.
