Without putting my mom's life story on here, she has had a rough life-her first husband died, she got remarried and now shes almost at the brink of divorce...as her 20 year old daughter....I've been noticing that she's been acting strange and im worried that shes just not happy anymore....shes going to counseling but I think she just wants to leave my dad...I've supported her as much as I can saying I want her to make the decision that will make her happy, but i feel so hopeless. How can I help her?

  1. Phone her a lot.

  2. Approach your mother tell her about your concerns.  Let her know that you have supported her as much as you can however you want her to make a decision that will make her feel happy.  Either stay or leave the marriage.  Ask her about her health in the last few months and how it has been affecting her.  Perhaps she doesnt recognise that there has been an effect there.

  3. Support her, listen to her, be there for her.  You can't push the issue, that would just make it worse.  It's good she is in counseling, hopefully, that will help.  Be patient.

  4. Check out this website:

She can take a depression test online, or you could take it for her. Keep in mind that she needs professional help and you won't be able to help her much. Don't carry this on your shoulders - it's way too heavy. Try to convince her to see a doctor, or call a psychiatrist for advice. You could probably contact Social Services in your town and ask them what to do. It's a serious problem.
