I think my rabbit has GI Stasis?

I've made a vet appointment for tomorrow. But I'm not convinced. The only red flags are she's bloated and not drinking water like normal. She's eating (veggies, hay, a small amount of pellets...) Her p**p is small but there is lots of it. And she's urinating just fine. I'm kind of hoping it could be something a lot less serious... Any ideas? And what can I do for her? Please help.

  1. well

if she's eating lots of veggies..

that could be why she's not drinking water..

veggies have lots of water in them.

Your vet should be a professionally, trained small animal vet.

  2. Well small multiple stools, bloating, and not drinking water to me sounds like a hairball (or other blockage) in the intestines (GI Stasis). I personally wouldn't be waiting till tomorrow. Tomorrow could be too late! I have experience with these kind of problems before and a day made a difference between life or death. When there is a blockage, stools can't be easily expelled and it causes a build up of harmful bacterias that can kill your bunny. If the rabbit isn't drinking, it makes matters A LOT worse. I would get help today, it REALLY is an EMERGENCY!

Also, GI Stasis doesn't always have to be no eating. Sometimes bunnies eat a lot of fiber to try and force the blockage out. You may notice your bunny chewing wood or newspaper Etc trying to get fiber from those sources.

Also I saw that you fed hay to your Rabbit. You didn't feed Alfalfa hay did you? Just to let you know (if you don't already :), Alfalfa hay can grow Mycotoxins and are too high in protein for even a healthy rabbit. Alright, good luck with your bunny!
