my son is 11weeks and it seems a bit early to be teething though i can't help but feel that he is.. he's sucking on his hand constantly and drooling (and spit bubbles),he cries though not when i pick him up (which makes me doubt he's in horrible pain).. i bought Dentinox and 5 minutes after i applied it he calmed down and slept.

what are the symptoms i should be looking for and how can i help him through it? i hate it when he cries (and ye i'm one of those mums who can't leave him cry, not even for 1 min)

  1. Drooling excessively, crankiness, fever.  Sounds like teething.

  2. if he cries when he bites down or something, or if he starts biting

  3. drooling, slight fever, sucking on things sounds like a tooth is about to come in

  4. OKAY ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT SAY IT'S TO EARLY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE h**l THEIR TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!

A baby can start teething at 3 months.

symptoms are crying, rash on neck or chin from drool, drooling, chewing, biting, tugging at ears or chin, not eatting as much, spitting out pacifier, slight fever. There are a lot you can look up more online. What you can do is freeze a wet wash cloth and let him bite on it or your finger, teething toys. Also you can go to walgreens and get humphreys and put a tablet or two in his bottle and it will help. It's all natural and doesn't numb his mouth. It's about ten bucks for 90 pills. If you want more info the internet is a great source.

  5. They go around biting everything.

Let them nibble on your finger, see if you can feel anything coming through their gums.

  6. there is no way he's teething at 11 weeks.

  7. A baby's bottom front teeth usually come through first, followed by their top front teeth (central incisors) and then the top and bottom incisors either side (lateral incisors).

The first molars (back teeth) then start to come through at approximately 12-14 months of age, followed by the canines (next to the lateral incisors) at 16-18 months, and finally the second molars at 18-30 months. A child will normally have a full set of first teeth by the time they are two-and-a-half to three years of age.

In a small number of cases, some children may be born with one or two teeth which have already come through, or will have a tooth emerge within the first few weeks of birth. This should not cause a child any problems, unless it affects their feeding.

Some babies show very few signs or symptoms of teething, while others find it a more painful experience. However, there are lots of ways you can help make teething easier for your child

    SYMPTOMS

        * A raised temperature - but not a fever, which is a temperature of 38C (100.4F) or above.

        * Reddened cheeks - your baby's cheeks may also be warm to the touch.

        * Reddened gums.

        * Excessive dribbling - this may cause a red rash to develop on their chin.

        * Poor appetite - your baby may be more reluctant to eat as a result of the pain in their gums.

        * Chewing - you may find your baby starts chewing more - it may be toys or objects, or their fingers.

        * Restlessness and irritability - the pain caused by teething can make your baby restless and irritable.

you can use teething rings, gel, but the best thing to do would be to go and see your gp if your worried as your baby is still young and its always best to check if teething gel and other medices are suitable for your baby

And yes it is possable for your baby to be teething at this stage not very common but it does happen!!

    best of luck x

  8. he might just be hungry too and needs more formula

Could also be an ear infection too. Check his temperature for fever

If it continues  call and ask your doctor

  9. thats just ridiculous ur baby IS NOT teething the normal age 4 the 1st tooth is 6months... wen he sucks on his hands and drools its just what babies do...and stop turning ur baby in2 a dentinox junkieu cant give him drugs without recieving medical advice...and if the rare possibility is that he is teething then u should notice a big bone sticking out of his gums

  10. It sounds like he's teething. Press your finger in his gums and see if you can feel a hardness. It's easy, so try it. You'll see that it works.

11 Weeks is not too early, considering that there are babys that are born with teeth ( it happens)

  11. The teething process is different for each child.  My daughter was an early teether, my son late.  Drooling and hand in the mouth is one sign.  They also can get irritable and cranky.  Some babies run a low grade fever and may even get diarrhea.  Ear infections aren't uncommon either.  You can put a teething ring in the freezer for a while and let your baby gnaw on that.  Also, baby orajel is good.  If he gets too uncomfortable, you can give him a little baby Tylenol or Tempera drops.

And, there's nothing wrong with your not letting your baby cry.  I didn't either, and both of mine are well-adjusted productive members of society.

Enjoy your baby and good luck.

  12. My 11 week old is doing the exact same thing!

  13. h**l put his fingers on his gums all the time, my nephew started doing that and he had 2 teeth come though.

  14. My little girl was doing all the same things and still has not had one tooth and she is 9.5 months.  I think a lot of the teething medicines have a little belladonna in them.  The teething tablets I have do anyway and belladonna makes you sleepy.

  15. There is every chance that your little in could e teething and I know myself as I have 2 kids who were both early teethers. Some are even born with teeth imagine that :o) I use ashtons parsons herbal powders which can be used up to 6 times a day and you can be assured that with being herbal they are doing no damage plus both of mine loved the taste. I know it's distressing when they are in pain I really sympathise ut it sounds like he has a mum that loves him very much so both stick in and all the best :o)

  16. Sounds like teething to me you have my sympathy , signs are all there my two also had reddish colour cheeks and slight temperature, you can buy teething powder, lots of cuddles and not much sleep. It's all worth it in the long run, just remember we all go through it at some time and it's not much fun.

  17. Put your (clean) finger in his mouth and run it round his gums.  You will certainly feel a sharp little point if he is teething.  First ones usually break through the gums at the front of the mouth.

One very common symptom of teething is  a sore bottom.   Nobody seems to know why, but it happened with all three of my babies.

If he is teething, he might get a lot of relief if you give him a chewing toy straight from the fridge.

  18. true 11 weeks is early for a baby but some babies do teeth early. i would say that he is teething. your questions are what are the symptoms but you mostly gave the answer yourself, he is sucking his hand drooling alot and cries when there isnt anything wrong. i would feel his gums really good with ur finger and see if u find any bumps.

  19. Ok I have to first admit that I haven't had a baby in about 9 years. I am preggo with my 3rd child right now and it's been a while. So as far as symptoms go, I remeber them having diarhea, swollen gums, and lots and lots of crying. I understand where u coming from about the not letting ur baby cry for even one minute. I am still like that and I have a 12 and 8 year old. So I understand. Go to this web site and this should help u also. www.babyzone.com

  20. ignore anybody that says he is to young my son  start  teething at that age he would drool alot he came out in this  rash the  health visitor says it was cause of the milk but it wasn't

just keep using  a teeth powder i use to use  teetha it is a  powder  that u can put on there gums and helps alot  n if he is starting 2 sleep thro the night then just after his  bottle before he will sleep put sum on his gums  should help him  sleep better

  21. Its not too early - the people who say it is obviously don't have a clue! It is possible for babies to be born with teeth, and most babies will feel the pain of teething before the tooth has even cut through, sometimes quite some time before (go on, thumbs down for pointing these people out as wrong - google search it folks!)

It certainly sounds like he's teething, but you should go easy on the dentinox. There's plenty of other ways to help him, you could try putting a plastic weaning spoon in the freezer and giving him it to chew? The cold will help, and it'll also help him get used to the spoon in preparation for when you do wean him - which should be quite some time yet! I'd also recommend the herbal powders you can get - I can't remember the name now, but my daughter liked them and they seemed to really help. Feel free to use Dentinox if he really needs it and if you're feeling desperate (though you shouldn't make a habit of it), a little bit of baby Calpol will help.

    Best of luck.
