Salami goes bad? It's been in there for two weeks, and it looks fine but it smells like sawdust and spices.

It's all I have in the fridge other than vanilla yogurt, and I want protein.

Yes, this is a spiritual question. I could end up entirely spiritual if I'm wrong. :-P

Nice sense of humor. Don't eat it just to be sure. Things usually smell bad before they look bad in the way of food. And go shopping! For food I mean.

Is the salami in a casing? If so, just cut off the end that's exposed, it should be okay to eat....I hope

You should be ok if this is still solid and not sliced salami - just cut the end off if it looks moldy.

Leave the salami alone if you want to stay upright. Yogurt has protein in it, just not as much as the rotten salami.

If you saw how salami is made you wouldn't ever eat it again. I went in a meat packing plant my friend worked at and saw these green things hanging from racks. After asking what they were I learned the green was mold that had to be washed off and allowed to re-grow several times in order to make the c**p inside turn to salami. It is similar to Yogurt in that it is "pre-digested" by micro-organisms. May you rest in peace if you make the wrong choice!

Since salami is cured meat, your soul is fine :).

Cured meat lasts longer than the deli meat stuff.
