Ok, in my basement bathroom the toilet doesnt flush correctly, when I run water in the sink the water overflows in the garage and it comes out through the little black thing under the pump, same for washing clothes (washer is downstairs) everything upstairs is fine. If you need more info just let me know. Thanks in advance.

  1. The breaker trips because the pump is bad or overloaded.  My guess is bad.  Having water running through walls is not cheap if it causes mold.

Why didn't you have the plumber replace it.

  2. If you live in a home that is prone to basement flooding, you will need a sump pump. A sump pump is a simple device that draws water through inlets and expels the water through a discharge hose away from your home. Installing and ensuring the proper function of a sump pump can save you thousands of dollars in repair and replacement costs. I would not waist any time in the replacement of the item.

  3. Yeah, it sounds like you have a problem with your sump pump.  Is the pump plugged in?  Is the breaker tripped?  Can you hear the pump turn on (you should be able to?  Another possibility is that the outlet for the sump pump is plugged.
