I think one of my sophomore friends is avoiding me...?

Question

I started freshman year of high school yesterday.

When I was in seventh grade, I met an eighth grader in the school play. We became friends, not real close or anything, but were on friendly terms. He was one of my first Facebook friends when I got an account in October of eighth grade. I also went to one of his swim meets in January and we talked a little.

However, now that school's started, he seems to be ignoring me. For example, I was walking home today, and him and a couple of his friends came up behind me. I happened to look over and see them, and when he saw me, he moved over so he wouldn't walk near me. He nodded at me before first period yesterday, but he was with two of his friends who didn't see me.

I honestly don't know if I'm just being paranoid, or should give it more time, or what. I'm really confused. What do you think I should do?

Okay, this is sounding like a typical high school situation. Since he is a sophomore he doesn't think he can be seen associating with a freshman because in high school terms it's social suicide. He doesn't want to be chucked by his friends or peers by hanging around with you during school. I think you need to just accept that and ask him to hang out (Email or ring him) sometime out of school. He may not feel comfortable doing this but it will determine if he's prepared to still be your friend.

This guy is so friggin worried about his image/appearance that, sounds to me, like doesn't want to ruin his reputation or whatever although he's a friggin sophomore!! I would just ignore his *** back until something happens and if it doesn't, lfe goes on!! Im a senior and here in Houston or in my school we really dont care about being caught talking to a fish!! Anyway just forget him!

well i think that he is doing this because u r a freshman and hes not. so he dose not want to be seen with a freshmanan with all of his friends and stuff.

well hey im freshmanman i got friends in all grades. so do clubs and stuff.
