  1. Simon is a pretty good player but I'm not sure he can beat Nadal consistently. He's essentially a baseliner and I don't think you can beat Nadal from the baseline. He's going to have to incorporate some other weapons into his game if he's going to have a chance at beating Nadal.

  2. Simon can, but he needs to really condition his body so it has better endurance. Pre-season training is VITAL to an athlete. That's one of the reasons people have a tough time.  Simon has talent, for sure. I think Gasquet could have pulled it off. His game is a thing of beauty.

  3. Simon got lucky and everyone is jumpin on his bandwagon. He is not going to become the next Canadian phenom in my opinion (as much as Id love him to). He is quite consistent, but he doesnt make it look as effortless as Federer and definitely cannot win in a consistency battle against Nadal. I would be impressed if he takes a set to a tiebreak.

Im praying that Im wrong and he beats him though.

  4. Dream on...................

  5. nadal is the best.

  6. I Don't think so - not in a million years.

  7. I think Simon would have a good chance against Nadal if he can get past Djokovic.

It would be interesting to see Simon's laidback and defensive style of play vs Nadal's aggressive and offense style.

  8. At the moment, I don't think so. While it's true Simon did win against Federer, Federer was not at the top of his game. He was down mentally from the French Open and Wimbledon defeats.

Nadal right now is seemingly unstoppable. The two have played twice before and the last time was at the Australian Open where Nadal won in straight sets (same for the time before). If Simon were to SOMEHOW overwhelm Nadal, I don't think it'd be because of Simon's skill but rather a lapse in concentration or fatigue from Nadal.

  9. No chance. Nadal is way too good. Simon got lucky to beat Federer.

  10. He can but I don't think he will!!! Simon is playing some really good tennis at the moment with the biggest highlight being his win over Federer. He is dangerous and handy of both wings.

However, I cannot see Rafa lossing to anyone at the moment-Let alone a player outside the top 3. Nadal , Federer and Djokovic are heads above the rest, despite the latter two being slightly lower on form.

  11. Not a chance. His baseline game cannot hurt nadal. Nadal is even a better baseliner than him.

  12. No way, simon lost to kiefer and kiefer lost to nadal. the guy deserves credit for beating federer but i think people are going a little overboard, federer clearly played a bad match and simon simply stuck around and managed his own game. I think simon would beat nadal 1 time in 10 or 15 tries

  13. Except if Nada is having an off-day, i doubt it. Nadal beat Gasquet and Murray who are much better than Simon...

  14. He can, but he won't. Nadal is just too overwhelming with all his topspin for Simon.
