  1. it is reccomended that you take your tempertaure as soon as you wake up.. before you even get out of bed (preferably at the same time each morning). Your temperature is going to be higher in the evening because you have been up and busy all day, walking around and what have you. You just need to chart your temp once a day, so don't even bother taking it in the evening.

You can find more information about charting your temps at these websites: www.fertilityfriend.com and www.mymonthlycycle.com

  2. You just need to make sure that you take your temperature at the same time everyday.  People recommend that you do it as soon as you get up because that way it will be a more consistent test each day.

  3. You are suppose to take your temp first thing upon waking at the SAME TIME every morning.  Do not do anyting except take your temp.  No water, no pee, no walking around.  Your temp increases as the day goes on due to activity.  Depending on what you have been doing, the last time you ate or drink, etc can change your temps that is why you need AM temp.  Also make sure you have at least 4 hours of sleep before you take your temp.  I set my alarm clock at 6 every morning and took it.  Sometimes I went back to sleep, but I always knew I would never get up before that time.  Don't bother taking it later in the day.  Best of luck to you.

  4. you are supposed to be taking your body temp as soon as you wake and before you get out of bed, that way you have a consistent temp everyday, the more you are up and moving around the more your body temperature will rise, the thing is that during the day there are many factors that can affect a rise in your temperature, if you check it first thing after waking, then you know everything is constant, there are no outlying factors to cause an increase, you are not alone, when I first started looking at my temps, I was taking them in the mornings like I was supposed but just glancing at them in the afternoon and there was always a difference... just because your temps increase during the day does not mean that you are necessarily ovulating, how are you charting?  Check out www.fertilityfriend.com  it is a great website that can pin point pretty accurately when you are ovulating, I found it easier to use this website than the paper chart, and has more clearer symbols, signs and explanations than ivillage... good luck!

  5. You just take your temp first thing in the morning (after sleeping at least 2 hours).  It should be under 98 degrees until either the day AFTER you ovulate or 2 days after you ovulate where your temp will jump up to 98 degrees or higher.

Evening temp is useless.  Once you move around or get up, your temp goes up.
