We live on a block which is located behind a shopping center. So basically there is an alley and loading docks behind our back yard. Last week, my roommate came around 1:30 am from work, she heard noise outside, she peeked out & seen a shadow run by. We went to the back part of the fence and noticed a shopping cart on its side as if someone was using it as a steping stool, we didn't call the police b/c she wasn't sure of seeing someone. Four days later, my sister physically sees a man peeping thru our fence around 11pm, he noticed she seen him and he ran. We called the police, they came to patrol but never came to our house to make a report. Then Saturday night, we are all gone all day, we get home bout 12am and my sisters window was wide open and her blinds messed up, my bedroom light was on, my blinds were toyed with, someone broke into our house and didn't steal anything, whats weird is there were no males over that day and the toilet seat was lifted up as if someone used it.

  1. if you are not allowed to have a dog where you live, they make alarms that you can hook up that is the sound of a dog barking, if anyone triggers the alarm they will hear the fake dog inside and more than likely leave.  especially if it was the same person that has already been there.. now they will know you have upgraded your security.

  2. Get a dog and/or shotgun for home defense.

  3. Get a dog, preferably a Doberman, Rottweiler or a German shepherd. You need solid proof if you want the police to take further action. Sorry to say but they are so busy with crime these days that they can't hang out in a parking lot behind a building waiting for someone to possibly commit a crime. Dogs are a great deterrent. I lived in a very bad neighborhood in college but never had any problems because of my Doberman.

  4. Speak to your landlord about this. Also before you leave your apartment make sure all the windows are locked. Place something underneath the window that will alert you if anyone has come in while you were gone or if they are coming in while your there.

Have someone come home with you and have them stay behind to see if they see anything suspicious.Or to go ahead to check.  If you have to report any odd things as a third person (don't give them your name say that there is a suspicious individual in someones backyard and then give them your address.)

Go to the police department and make a report. Let them know that you want the area checked before something happens. Have everyone in your family and your roommates family know what is going on.  The more people know then the police is going to have to do something about this.

When you go out try to change your routine because if your being watched they already know what you do. So if you have to leave later or come home earlier do so. Walk a different way etc. Please always let someone know you are going home try to walk with someone. Never alone. Get a whistle and use it if you hear any noises. Or if you feel threatened. If anyone approaches yell FIRE! And don't stop until someone comes to see what's going on.Whistles can be bought at any place they sell uniforms for police/fire personnelle. Take pictures. If you see the shopping cart remove it!!

Buy your motion detector lights get someone to put them up immediately!! If you can get someone to install a camera in your apartment and facing the backyard do so.

When you walk anywhere always look over your shoulder. Be alert look at everyone around notice your surroundings.

Are you sure your not missing any articles of clothing? Undergarments? Did you check to make sure they didn't put anything in your food in the fridge? The reason I say this is because you have very sick people out there. Please keep yourselves safe. I hope this helps.
