ok. so i've had her for like seven years..and she was never much of a singer. a couple months ago we found broken eggs in her cage..which is weird cause she is the only parakeet we have. ever sense then..she is constantly making this noise that isnt really singing..and its not pretty. it gets louder and more desperate sounding when you get closer to her cage. i've tried cleaning her cage, giving her new food and toys but nothing works. whats going on?

  1. Has her cage and her been outside? That can be the result of her babies. She probably ate her babies, because the mother is suppose to be separated from the eggs after they are hatched. She is probably just lusty.

Try getting her a male. But keep them in seperate cages unless you want a million babies.

  2. Well, for the sound, I think your talking about her crying. Thats how they cry. So she might be upset over the egg thing. She might be lonely too. You could play with her or get her a friend parakeet.

  3. Female birds can lay eggs even when there is no male around.  The eggs will not be fertile, therefore there will be no babies.  Your bird broke the eggs she laid.  She is having hormone changes in her body, this is why she sounds different.  She will get over it soon....
