I think that my birdy is dying... =[...?

He's been fluffy for days now and is really weak when he berly wakes up... he sleeps more than usual... i've had him for three years now... he still seems kinda strong when he's been awake for a long time... and he still eats but is still fluffy... i think he has hurt his left leg cuz he can't walk on it... i need help... =[... i'm really attached to him... is he gonna die or sumthin!?!?!?

  1. Most pet birds - parakeets and canaries - do not live long.  Your bird may well be dying - but if you're so concerned, why haven't you taken him to the vet?  It may be that with simple treatment by that kind soul, your bird could live another three years.

  5. You need to get him to avian vet right away. There are a number of things that could be wrong with him. Until  you can take him to vet keeep him warm and quite. Sick birds cannot regulate their body heat. If he cannot walk on his leg it could be due to injury or certain sickness. pain will make them fluff and act sick also. I would act quickly as birds do not show signs of illness until they are very sick. Good luck. Might want to move his perches lower also so he does not have to jump or try to fly.

  6. 3 years is not that old for a bird usually.  Budgies live about 5-8 years and some even up to 15 years if well cared for.  What type of bird is it?  I would take him to an avian vet or at least call one up to see what to do.  Hold your bird to keep him warm until you are able to get him help.

  7. I'm afraid he might be old and its time for him to go to the big bird cage in the sky.But there might be a chance hes really sick or cold. Get him to the vet. NOW.

I am not going to point out some of the idiotic responses you have gotten so far but the best and only advice you need to consider is calling an avian vet and getting your bird to their office.  When a bird is fluffed up like that they are very ill.  Birds do not show their illnesses until they are extremely ill as this would be a sign of weakness in the wild,.    

    First, three years old is young for a parakeet, their life span is from 10-15 years depending on the quality of care they have.  Feeding seed is a huge factor that will shorten a life span considerably.  All parrots from parakeets to macaws require fresh fruits, veggies and pellets with seed only as a treat.

  10. He is if you don't hurry up and take him to an avian vet!  By the time a bird gets like that, it's very sick (probably been sick for a while) and doesn't have much time left, and probably needs some sort of medicine that the vet has to prescribe after figuring out what's wrong.

  13. Keep him warm but not hot. Don't touch his leg, birds are fragile. You need a vet SOON! Hope he gets better! :(
