  1. first take to the vets and have tested then the vet will give you the best remedy.

  2. when my dog was a puppy ( shes turning 5 in october ) the vet thought she had hip displacement . we got her a bigger cage because she would always curl up in a tight circle when sleeping. also put her/him on a diet. my puppy was overweight because she was the first dog we had. so she got put on a diet and it was all better. also check with your vet. :]

  3. You mean Displaysia?

Glucosamine/ Chondroiten is the best remedy, you might add a fish oil capsule, broken open, to his food avery day also, helps lubricate the tendons and muscles that have to compensate for the displaysia.

If it is severe, the only remedie is Hip replacement surgery.

It could just be arthritis too, in which case Glu/Chon and fish oil will help that too.

I would suggest you have your vet look at the dog before you start treating to make sure of what is going on.

  4. uh, correct me if im wrong, but isnt the term, hip "dysplasia"?

  5. diet, diet, diet, just like people dogs need a steady diet of protein enriched foods, without a lot of salt and definitely no dies!!! My family bred and raised Great Danes and I remember always feeding them meat, rice, and in some cases protein powder that was sprinkled on their food. Salt and dies will only help to ruin the joints and stunt any growth of healing properties that the body has to add.  Both collect in the joints and fatty cells and sit there like, well, poison, especially to an animal who has mobility problems as it is. The dyes can also eventually lead to kidney and liver problems as well. So when you purchase food read the label as though it was for you,  the more you can understand the words in the ingredients, the more likely it is that it is better for your dog.  Avoid glutamate's, sodium's and fillers.

Cortisone shots are another option but they have a catch 22 effect.  While on one hand they help with the pain, on the other they promote further deterioration of the joints and muscle cells. Nice easy walks, once a day for not too long of a distance can help, and in some cases swimming has been extremely beneficial for hip diysplasia.  Of course don't forget to have a good vet that you and your pet trust perform regular check ups.

  6. get him on the diet. maybe he had gained some weight.

and take him to the vet to take a x ray. just to be sure.

if he is walkin funny and its not hip displacement then get the treatment for whatever it is that the dogis suffering from.

how old is he?? and how big is he?

good luck and keep me posted:)
