I think the post office lost my mail?

I sent out expensive pictures of my 10 month old son to my mother about 2 weeks ago, and everyone but her has recieved them. Are they possibly lost in the mail? I sent them out from my home (not from postoffice) and i weighed them and put enough stamps on the envelope... where could they be? I would hate to reorder the prints since they were over $100, but where would i go to try to find out what happened to them, and can they be found if lost from the post office?....

I wish i had a tracking on them, but i never imagined they wouldnt get to her....
