I think this seller is tricking me on eBay?

OK, the other day (Friday morning) I purchased an iPod Touch off eBay for 320 bucks. This is the URL to the item:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...

i received an email from the person confirming the address, and i said that it was correct.

the payment still says Unclaimed on PayPal. I looked up the seller's eBay Profile and saw this in their listings:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Apple-iPod-Touch-...

It is the exact same item, but maybe they have two touch's. Do you think they are tricking me? I really want an iPod touch. Its just gorgeous and I don't want to wait ages for it either.

Oh, and if it helps, i got an email from the seller on Friday afternoon:

Hi, Thanks for purchasing the iPod. I would just like to confirm the delivery address:

<my address was here, and you aren't getting it sorry :P>

Thanks.

  1. I'd not really worry or panic as long as they've not taken the cash from paypal and not delivered it , plus you need to give them about 3 to 5 days to do this. Also the seller might have not just 1 or 2 but dozens of them up for sale bec their making some kind of sales commission or they bought a bunch so they could mark up price and sell them all off on ebay.

  2. Well, I am getting a "Page Not Responding" error on both links:

The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding.

    Please try the options below:

        * Try to access the feature directly from the eBay Home Page, instead of using a bookmark.

        * Wait a few minutes and try to access the feature again.

If you have waited ten to fifteen minutes and you still can't access your page:

        * Check our Announcement Board to see if the feature is currently unavailable.

If what you are looking for is unavailable, you may still be able to access other parts of the site from the eBay Home page

Maybe it is just that you are using a bookmarked page. Maybe eBay pulled that sellers page. Dunno. I would contact eBay as soon as possible, maybe also have PayPal cancel the payment. eBay and PayPal can investigate and find out if they are a legit seller. What was this person's feedback rating? Have they been a member for a long time? I wasn't able to access any info about it, so as far as telling you anything other than to get eBay and PayPal involved right away, there isn't much else I can tell you. Since you are (apparently) a newbie to eBay, I would get them involved very soon. Both companies will take steps to get your money back if you have been ripped off.

  3. Umm...

So put your eBay troubles in the Acura section??? oh kay?

  4. At this point there's nothing you can really do but wait. How is the sellers feedback? You always want to check the sellers feedback before bidding on an item, and if it's a high end item such as an ipod, only bid if they have a lot of feedback. I still use ebay a lot, but only bid from sellers who have a good deal of feedback. Feedback is there for a reason and is a great thing to look at to make your ebay experience good! If your seller has good feedback, I wouldn't worry at all.

If you were getting ripped off, that payment would have been claimed by now. And if the seller has the same item for sale, they might be getting these items wholesale and selling a bunch on ebay, it's a pretty common ebay business. A lot of sellers don't even carry their inventory, they do what's called drop-shipping. (that has it's own explanation, too long for me to get into but feel free to Google it!)

Since you got the e-mail, that is a good sign. After I think it's 10 days you haven't heard or received anything, you can try to contact the seller again. If you get no response, file a dispute with ebay. Paypal will cover most of your financial loss if this does turn out to be a rip off. It takes time but it's worth it!

Have to be very careful on ebay. Hopefully you have nothing to worry about!! :)

EDIT: I couldn't view your links but I think I found the item you're talking about, it looks like this guy has 0 feedback, which could be something to worry about.

Here's ebay's dispute policy if you have an item not received, visit this link here for more info on what to do. Sorry to say but you're just gonna have to wait and see.
