I think this sounds pathetic, but how can I make myself feel good about getting older?

I am in my 40s and went through a really early menopause at 41, I don't know why. I just feel depressed about my age and my position in life. I have been married and divorced 4 times starting in my teens and I have no children. I would appreciate really honest or thoughtful answers.

Turn off your TV and take a trip to a culture which appreciates people over 25. You deserve a vacation after the life you've had.

I don't know if I  have the answers for you but just take this time to enjoy yourself. Do things for yourself now. Take long relaxing walks and treat yourself to things that you always wanted to do but couldn't. These may not change every thing but they are things that can bring some enjoyment and happiness to every day.

Why don't you write a list of what you want to do? And then try to make as many of them happen as much as you can?

I'm not exactly where I want to be either, but I've kind of let things slip being in a denial of my own about getting older. But I am working in on!

Gray and white hair does not equal to wisdom. Just be thankful you are getting older. who wants to die young? See your MD, he/she can put you back together again. I went through menopause at 45 have never been the same. So what? Find a reason to keep on aging. You are not alone!!! I want to live to be 90, Now that is old and wonderful. Please God, don't let me die too young!!!!!!

Have you ever thought about adopting a baby? The children in Lyberia are in desparate need of adoption. It is the cheapest country to adopt from the world because there are so many orphans from the 14 year Civil War there. The price of adoption is $5000/child. I know families who have adopted up to 7 kids in one family! Some advice is to adopt younger children not teens...the teens seem to rebel and cause a lot of trouble.

Sounds weird, but I have always thought that women get better looking as they get older. They seem to "age with grace" as my mum always says to my sister. I'm sure that you are beautiful no matter what age you are.

I am 51 and dealing with the same issues.  I have immersed myself in my pagan beliefs about the third cycle of a woman's life or the crone era.  I get alot of good things from the wisdom there.  Try the Book  "crones don't whine".  It has alot of gems of wisdom.  I really have a problem dealing with the restlessness and the vague feeling that I am leaving something "undone" some how.  Strange isn't it???  GIve me a hollar if you want to chat.  Blessings Crone.

U know, the psychologists and counselors cannot completely heal your mind, but they can listen to you in order to make you feel much better by realizing the real quality of a life. Try them and you won't regret the time being with those helpful people.

You sailed right through menopause in only a single year?  And perimenopause at that, wow!  Thats one for the medical history books.

Get an education.  Go to university.  The experience will blow your mind.

If you are suffering from clinical depression (which you sound as though you are) it needs to be treated.  Ask your physician.

Do you not feel liberated?  Once I was over 40 Bite Me became my saying.  Freedom, and I'm not yet 55.  But you need to like yourself and only you can do that.  I am almost 49, there are not fashions for me.  You will never see me in a wrinkle commercial because it would not work.  If you are not ageing you are dead.  Let it liberate you not put you down.
