I think to should be a law...?

I think it should be a law that

when you come to a traffic light

if it is red, but no other cars are around

instead of sitting there and waiting

for it to turn green, it should detect

that a car is there and automaticly

turn green. There are some lights

that do that, but I think every major

city and every town 50 miles from

the major city should have a law

that enforces the traffic lights to

turn green when you are the only

car there.

What do you think?

  1. I think you are just too impatient if the 1 minute you have to wait for a light to change frustrates you this much.

  2. would never work in big cities for obvious reasons, but yeah they should do that. I live in Boise, Idaho and i think some kind of do that but a lot need better timing on the red and green changes. It would cut down travel time, gas use and potentially pollution too. We only have like 211,000 people and the city is really spread out. Like late at night, there are few people on the road. Same with early morning, and certian spots in the day.

  3. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. if you are in such a hurry to get some where and cannot wait a couple of minutes for the light sequence, then you should have set off earlier, or give up driving.

    In patience kills 'em dead.

  5. This already has been studied and the results are good but the main thing that they were facing is "LIABILITY" for the town, city and the state in the event that an accident did happen and that is why they wont do it..........

  6. that would be ok until someone pulled out in front of you and you hit them,it wouldn't work there would be too many people running red lights and saying that nothing was coming, and they didn't see another car,it would be plum dangerous to do something like that, good luck.

  7. it would be expensive, but it is annoying to be at a traffic light, and have to wait for no reason. i don't think it is a big enough problem for the government to get involved though

  8. it would be a great idea, mostly due to the high gas prices. this would help the situation some.

  9. I do a lot of middle of the night type driving, and often come to small town lights that stay red indefinitely, unless you happen to stop on the sensor pads in the pavement. often my big truck straddles over it and i get out and press the pedestrian crossing button. I would like to know if in those situations, no traffic for hours, if it would be ok, to treat the redlight as a stop sign. come to a complete stop, and then proceed when safe. be the same as a stop sign crossing of a highway. right? Any cops out there not ok with that idea?
