The girls have been deworm 3 times. It has been about a month since their last deworming. Just found live and large worms in Maggies p**p today. We switched from Advantage Multi to Revolution yesterday. We're calling the vet in the morning. Should we get them tested for heartworm too.

  1. You need to get dewormer from the vet. Puppies need to be dewormed often during their first year. You should take in a stool sample to be tested to see what if any other kinds of parasites might be present.

If the puppy is over 6 months old then yes it should be tested for heartworm.

  2. I'd ask your vet for a couple doses of strongid- sounds like they have roundworms.  However the good news is if they are expelling the worms the dewormer may be working.  The dewomer does not kill the worms- it kills the coating that the worm uses to hide from the dogs immune system.  The body then says-aAAHH- and gets rid of the worms

  3. Your dogs probley got worms by eating something that hade worms ,so i would go to the vet.

  4. If you suspect the Advantage Multi was defective, ask your vet about testing for heartworm also.
