  1. I'm DOWN!

  2. Yeah!  Everyone blockade the refineries and petrol stations, and I will take great joy in shouting "suckers!!" as I drive past in my vegetable oil powered car.

  3. Will you be riding me in your basket on your bike the 15 miles to my job?

    Thnx.

  4. great idea, but it really doesn't work. Everyone goes to the pump either the day before or the day after.

  5. us AMericans are too lazy. I stopped looking at gas prices. Whats the point? i can;t argue and get a cheaper price

  6. This has been tried, and it's just too impossible to coordinate everyone into not buying gasoline on the same day. Many people will be traveling for different reasons on different days, and they can't just stop their trip in the middle of a highway because they ran out of gas and it's Not-Buy-Gas Day. You also have to take into account the trucking companies and airlines that will be buying fuel, even if the rest of the population refuses. In theory it's a good idea, but it's simply too difficult to put into practice.

  7. Sadly, it will not work.  Nor will a boycott of one company.

You will still need to fill up at some time.

However, if you are going to try to use the least amount, and save money, fuel an the environment, that is different.  We can make a difference by driving less.

  8. Two things will happen.  People will fill up, the day before your "strike', and, of course, buy gas the day after your "strike."  So in effect, nothing will happen.

  9. im for this and people are out this weekend look at this link for more info http://transaction-2007.com/

  10. I'd love to, but im a self employed window cleaner and don't think they will let me on the bus with a ladder and a bucket of water. I think the tax on fuel sucks.

  11. I agree and it does not have to be on working days. Everybody could plan to take it easy on the weekend. I do think we need to do something.

  12. No. It won't work, we all need to be places. Petrol costs what it costs, perhaps it will encourage more green iniatives if prices continue to rise. Not that I would be able to get a bus as I live rurally and depend on a car for most things.  If I need petrol I will go and get it.  There has been talk on answers for a couple of weeks about fuel protest, nobody is interested  before Xmas, why not try in Feb when we are all bored and fed up and broke. It isn't going to work when everyone is driving miles looking for an elusive Wii or Nintendo DS.  Maybe that makes us apathetic or just desperate parents.

  13. It wouldn't really solve anything.

  14. I think the idea is lovely in theory, but in reality it just wouldn't work. Too many people depend on their cars for everything, myself included. It is sad that the industry is abusing that, and they SHOULD be stopped. We'll have to wait for the next president to be elected to even attempt it though.

I really wish that GM ( I believe that's who it was) wouldn't have tossed that man's electric engine years ago. Being from and IN a lower-middle-class family makes it really tough to make ends meet when you have to spend literally half your paycheck just to get to and from WORK.

Until they're stopped, we all just have to bend over, grab our ankles and grin while they s***w us.

  15. If you think this through, you will realize that the only thing it does is inconvenience you.  The oil companies will survive because there is plenty of demand for oil around the world and it is implausible to think you can get the whole world to strike at once.  Even then, you only delay oil sales for a day or two.  Unless you plan on living like people did in the 1800's, you really don't have a lot of choice when it comes to buying petroleum products.  The best thing you can do for yourself and the world is to change your lifestyle to use less oil products.

  16. What we really need is a complete across the board strike,  and yes I do mean every thing for one week.  See how the politicians sit up then.

  17. here here!!!!!

  18. trike is not  gonna resolve this problem, the price is up and down , and he  s   not going  down  trust me .

  19. i havent got 87million gallons of the stuff

and drivers unwilling to deliver it

i only have a red 5litre plastic petrol can

and 2 bicycles in my shed

  20. It wont work even slightly. all it will do is cause you to have to walk when your car runs out of the few drops of petrol you can currently afford.
