Question:

I thought Hillary Clinton was a friend to Latinos?

Hillary recently demoted her campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle (a Latino-American), for Maggie Williams (a long time Clinton Friend). It seems Obama's surge over the weekend has caused Hillary to discard, and devalue the previous success Solis-Doyle has brought to her campaign. Is Hillary going to discard the loyalty of Latinos once they are of no use to her? I have heard that Latinos are being fooled into thinking Blacks and Senator Obama are their competition. That Black people are the enemy and we should vote for Hillary. Yet, when such loyalty is rewarded by being demoted. It really makes me wonder if I have chose the wrong side

  1. Hilary Clinton won major support from the Latino communities in California and Nevada largely because she had the support of leaders such as Dolores Huerta.

If we examine their records, one will easily see that Barack Obama's programs and background offer more hope to the majority of Latinos.

    The Democrats' Class War

For all the hype about generational and gender wars in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, we have a class war on our hands. And incredibly, corporate America's preferred candidate is winning the poorer "us" versus the wealthier "them" — a potentially decisive trend with the contest now moving to working-class bastions like Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In most states, polls show Hillary Clinton is beating Barack Obama among voters making $50,000 a year or less — many of whom say the economy is their top concern. Yes, the New York senator who appeared on the cover of Fortune magazine as Big Business's candidate is winning economically insecure, lower-income communities over the Illinois senator who grew up as an organizer helping those communities combat unemployment. This absurd phenomenon is a product of both message and bias.

  2. Because race IS an issue, why do you think everyone is trying to court hispanic votes?

  3. I am of hispanic decent and I could CARE LESS that Hillary demoted someone in her campaign that was performing below expectations. Can we stop making this d**n election about race, gender or ethnic background and focus on the candidate that best matches our view on IMPORTANT issues. I am sure Obama and all the Republicans have fired a hispanic person before, why not make an issue of that! Or better yet, were you really going to vote for her based on the fact that her campaign manager was "Latina"? I seriously hope that is not what you base your entire support on. I hope that you actually look at the ISSUES that face us all.

  4. Its people like you who are making this election about gender and race...

Who gives a c**p if her campaign manager is white, black, latino, asian, a man, or a woman?

That also goes for the candidates why doesn't the country look at the records and fact about the candidates instead of the skin of the gender!

  5. Come on now - Hillary is a friend to whoever is giving her the most campaign contributions. There is no special loyalty to anyone going on based on anything but money!!! Come on now - do you really trust any politician??? The entire process is corrupt and it's just like everything else in this country controlled by the rich powerful campaign contributors and not the least bit by the average citizen Latino or Native American or even Caucasian. What I would have liked to have for a candidate is someone who wants to put the power back into the hands of the average citizen and out of the rich and powerful. There are people in this country who are so rich off of the healthcare system that they fund Hillary's campaign - so she will not touch their pocketbooks when it comes time to put her universal healthcare package in place. Forget food, clothing and shelter - 2/3 of our income will go into taxes to fund it - just like Canada. She certainly holds no loyalty to anyone who is not one of her biggest financial supporters. I want a candidate who is not out there based on that - but I don't see any good options. The rich and powerful in this nation are not in the least bit affected by a recession, in fact these politicians so many have benefits for life, incredible incomes even after retirement, huge mansions, expensive cars and they couldn't care less about the average person who loses their job during a recession. For goodness sakes, the change out of their back pockets could fund 50 low income families for a year. These rich people are all about protecting their rich lifestyles at the expense of the average person and it is sickening. The CHANGE we really need is NOT EVEN ON THE BALLOT. You certainly can't put your trust in these people and think that whatever they say is true or that a perceived loyalty is anymore than a temporary swing in your direction to get your votes. The entire system has become corrupt and no one is turning to the right things - even if one person did - they can't fix the entire system. The entire system needs to be overhauled. Democracy yes - but a true democracy and not one based on hedonism, self interest and greed. Our forefathers of this nations would turn over in their graves if they saw what this has turned into. I'm voting for George Washington. I'd rather have a dead President than most of the choices I've got.

  6. I guess if you believe the hype, this is a good question.  However, "don't believe the hype".  Hillary is a friend to the Latino vote, not the Latino.  By August 2008, she won't remember Latinos or blacks until she needs them again. Ms Solis simply found out that no matter what she achieved for Hillary (through her efforts or representation) its all about being elected, not loyalty.

Oh and for those who continue with their moronic utterings, "This election is not about race!", you're wrong.  This is America, and everything has been tainted with racial ignorance and fear.  Blacks and Latinos make up 12 and 14 percent of the population (respectively), but their unemployment, poverty, and incarceration representation exceeds those percentages.  If you think Senator Obama doesn't have to watch what he says concerning race (avoiding statements that could be perceived as siding with non-whites), you're smoking.  If you actually believe race is not an issue in this election, this country (it would have to be absent there as well), then I envy your Santa Claus like ignorance.

  7. Hillary is NOT your fiend.  Vote Republican.

  8. I must say I agree with Sir. Why is it automatically assumed that race is the issue??

  9. Has anyone ever told you that you are a world-class conclusion jumper?  Replacing one person whose job performance is slumping -- for whatever reason:  out of ideas, tired, personal or family issues, policy or tactical disagreements, whatever -- at a critical time in a campaign hardly equals discarding an entire voting constituency.

  10. She is their "friend" only as long as they serve her needs. That's the way the Clintons work. As long as you're useful they are your best friend,if you aren't useful anymore they could care less about you,if you become a problem for them you are taken for a ride to a park somewhere where you can "shoot yourself"

  11. I have two points to make:

1st.  Hillary is loyal to Hillary.

2nd. Stop trying to inject racism into this. Hillary doesnt care if someone is plaid, as long as she gets something out of it.

  12. Hillary Clinton is an intelligent but vicious person. When there is a problem she blames it on someone else never taking responsibility for her own shortfalls. People are seeing Clinton for what she is and are voting for Obama. Rather than accept the fact Obama may beat her she blames her campaign manager; it is not her campaign manager who is in front of the people. It has not been her campaign manager who has been in office for the past seven years and accomplished nothing. People are hearing Clinton’s new voice but it is too late. She claims years of experience and influence but she has not been able to get her health bill passed in those years; she has tried for 15 years and can not get democratic or republican support. She claims to have ' many great ideas and opportunities for America but in the years she has been in the Senate she has not brought them out! She has voted for almost every bill than has brought hardship to low income families. She backed and voted for the bankruptcy bill that has devastated thousands of low income families. She will tell you she is on your side and ready to help you but look at her record and decide for yourself; her background and voting record is far different than she wants you to believe today. If she had all the experience, influence and interest in taking care of low income families she should have been doing so in the years she has been in the Senate - ask yourself why she has not! She spends too much time blaming others for problems and too little time fixing them - she talks a lot but does little!
