Question:

I thought Y!A and 360 were all about no SPAM?

I've gotten answers to questions and Quick Comments on my 360 page that are total spammers.

Are these people who do this by setting up accounts and individually sending these messages?

They have nothing what-so-ever to do with my question, and they always try to get me to check out their website.

I mean if it's set up this way to keep spammers out but it allows trolls, and now the spammers are getting through, what's the point?

  1. On the right side of the screen Betty Crocker was telling me to eat cake...Spam inside the box or out..Welcome to Yahooooo!

  2. Nothing is perfect, just check out the Democratic party.  Oh ok, it was only a joke, same goes for the Republicans too.  I just picked the Democrats because everyone seems ready to slam the Republicans these days.

    Back to your question.

Nothing is perfect and spammers can and do slip through.  All you can do is <gasp> report them or block and forget about them.

  3. we have to report them so yahoo knows, yahoo cannot check out EVERY question and answer.  thats why they limit how many questions a new person can ask a day, in case they are making up multiple accounts.

  4. Either individual people or businesses are setting up accounts to spam. Both Y!360 and Y/A have report abuse features. Click the "Report Abuse" link next to answers or questions in Y/A that you feel are spam. Explain that in the text area and submit your report. Thumbs down spam answers as well.

In Yahoo! 360, before deleting a spam comment or message, while logged in, go to the Abuse form at

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/for... . Make sure that you are going back to your country's version of the abuse form. I find reporting through the US form is most effective.

    Please provide the following information:

    * Web address of the Yahoo! 360° page (e.g., http://360.yahoo.com/profile-group of numbers and letters).

    * What exactly happened. Be specific. Do not type in all capitals. But stay on topic - point out the exact violation of Y!360 guidelines or Yahoo! Terms of Service.

Usually spammer pages on 360 are deleted quickly after a report is submitted, but ultimately the action taken is up to Yahoo.

For Y!360 messages, click on the "Ignore this User" link on the spammers Top Page to no longer receive messages from them. If you report them, then it will take likely care of that aspect as well... until they create a new account.

Do not interact with spammers. Ignore, delete and report. Spam happens all over the Internet. There is no escape, no matter the service. Use the community moderation tools at your disposal.
