“I thought he was great,” says Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura for Kevin Youkilis
Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura managed Kevin Youkilis in the recent past Major League Baseball season. This was the first season of Ventura being as manager in the Major League however, he proved himself and showed that he can see any player’s brilliance
just to watch them play.
During his first year as manager, he saw some great performances by some of the Chicago White Sox’s senior players. Kevin Youkilis was one of them as his all season long performances impressed him the most.
Recently Kevin Youkilis has signed a new deal with the New York Yankees but still his former manager is speaking in the media for his 2012 Major League Baseball season’s contribution.
“I thought he was great, He is a competitor. A lot of what you saw with Red Sox is what you get. He comes ready to play every day. He has a grinder mentality. He never takes anything for granted or gives in on anything.” Ventura said for Kevin Youkilis and
explained in the media with detail.
Robin Ventura said with more confidence adding more detail to Youkilis’ brilliance, “He was great [in the clubhouse], The least of [the Yankees’] worries is [Youkilis] coming into a clubhouse. It is not issue. He comes to play. He is a good team guy, too.
He pulls for everyone. He just wants to win. He was simple for me — he just wanted to be in the lineup.”
Kevin Youkilis finished the season on high note and went with .235 hitting average along with 19 homers, 60 RBIs and .336 OBP. Overall his career hitting average of .283 along with 148 home runs, 610 RBIs and .384 OBP also makes him a great as well as role
player in the league.
With last season’s performance under his belt, he recently signed a good one-year $12 million contract with the New York Yankees. Earlier news also came out in the media that Youkilis will be re-signing again with the Chicago White Sox, but in the end, he
considered Yankees offer more lucrative and signed with them to a one year deal.
