In the star wars prequels, it states that jedi aren't allowed to be married because there feelings for there loved ones might cloud there judgment and can lead to the dark side. Is this true because in the star wars expanded universe, luke skywalker gets married to mara jade. and other jedi are married as well. for the hardcore star wars fans please help me

  1. The new order of things in the time of the expanded universe is not as strict as it was in the time of the clone wars. Jedi guarded the power of the force sacredly. Some of us even feel that the Jedi are not altogether right in some of their rules and their strict feelings about the force, and the way that they do not explore the full power of it. Of course, I don't think that they're evil like the Sith, but they do have some, well, undesirable traits. By the time Luke gets married, the Jedi way of life has pretty much dissolved.

  2. Just because they forbid deep connection with others doesn't mean Jedi obey the rules. For example the Cerian Jedi Ki-Adi Mundi was able to have several wives and children due to his species low birthrate,Correllian Jedi also disobey the rule because Correllians don't live with compromise (Btw Han Solo is a Correllian),also after the Old Jedi Order was nearly wiped out, Luke Skywalker who became the leader of the New Jedi Order made some changes like allowing Jedi to carry weapons other than lightsabers and allowing Jedi to have deep feelings for others.(But probably with some restrictions.) Besides if Jedi get married and have a family their offspring will be Force sensitive.
