if he is a sleep and i call him he doesn't respond the only way he wakes up is if the other dogs come running . i love him dearly and just want to know what to do and how i can teach him to come to me or what i need to do.

  1. Dropping something loud on the floor won't do a bit of good, the dog can feel the vibrations. Make noises when the dog's not looking at you, a variety of them, to see if it responds.

  2. Take him to your vet

  3. Make a high pitch sound, dogs can hear sounds we can't, so try that.

  4. I think the Vet can, but I've never had to, so I'm not sure if their is a specialist or not.

  5. well, the best way to know is to ring your doorbell. if the dog barks, he's not deaf!!!!

  6. well, do something loud. drop something on the floor. if he doesn't even flinch then he is deaf. try dropping something metal so it is loud

  7. First of all, don't drop something on the floor; the vibration will alert him.  Try calling his name when he is awake but is not looking at you. Stand out of his sight, and he call him with enthusiasm.  If he responds, he can hear. If not, I would take him to the vet for testing.

A lot of dogs fail to respond to a call when they are asleep; mine will completely fail to hear me when they are in deep sleep, but they wake up and bark if a car comes anywhere near our house!

  8. well first dont drop anything on the floor cuz it could wake up the puppy with the vibrations instead just yell or scream(while its sleeping)and see if the puppy wakes up. i hope he isnt deaf

  9. don't do something like dropping a pan like that other person said thats animal abuse and he can actually become deaf! the best you can do with him is take him to the vet and tell the vet your concern.

  10. Your vet will be able to check for you.  The vet can also see if there is something blocking the ear, like wax, or maybe even an ear infection.  Also, if your dog is deaf, the vet will be able to provide you with plenty of information about it.

  11. try standing behind him and clapping loudly or something like that. if he doesn't respond he probably has a hearing problem. if so, you should take him to the vet to make sure it's nothing serious (a symptom of a serious illness etc.) and enroll him in an obediance class where you can learn to use hand gestures and other methods to train him. Good luck

  12. When he's asleep drop something loud (like a pan) to make a lot of noise - this is a quick and dirty test - if he can hear he will get up and be alert, if he doesn't respond there's probably a problem and you need to take him to a vet!
