If your tax liability on your return was $300 or under, you'd get $300.  The only way you get $600 is if your tax liability was at least $600.

Because your tax liability was less than $300.  If it had been more, you'd have gotten more.  In order to get the full $600, you had to have had a liability greater than $600.

The rebate check is based on how much Federal tax you paid in 2007.  Those who paid more get the 600. each

If you filed separately, you each get 300, file together and get 600.(provided you did not make over 130,000 last year...
