I thought orchids had bulbs?

Question

I have a pink cymbidium (sp) orchid. I don't know if it's a hybrid, I got it at Safeway. Anyways it was already pretty big, but I wanted to seperate the bulbs and re-pot them in a long rectangular container....however all I see is one big mass of roots and they won't break apart even softened in water...what do I do? I gave up for now and put it back in the round pot but I need some advice for this.

orchids do not have bulbs. they grow on trees or in tree bark. you might want to go online and research orchids before you do something wrong. orchids like a lot of humidity but very little water. mist them lightly everyday or so.www.about.com is a good place to go to find out about plants or anything else for that matter.
