I like my tiels because they are a small breed  the parrot family that you can have in multiples and not feel totally overwhelmed,I would love to have an amazon but you need the space and means,and lets face it a tiel bite is no comparison to an aamizon bite,case closed!

Breeds come and go in popularity based on a lot of factors, country, place where the person lives, society (movies, celebrity dogs etc.).

Because more and more people live in cities, smaller breeds are becoming more popular but labs and goldens will always be up there due to their human lovin' ways.

Small dogs are popular, because a lot of celebrities have small dogs, you can dress them up and carry them around with you all the time.  Like a fashion accessory.  Some people like small dogs because they are easier to handle and are better for apartments or smaller housing.

But it all depends on the person.  I personally like big dogs.  All of mine have high energy and are great for outdoor things, like hiking, walking, running, things I am interested in doing.  But once their energy is burned, they are great to relax with in the evening.

If you are thinking about getting a dog, the best recommendation is to read about different breeds, their energy levels, grooming, how they get along with people and other animals.  That way you can determine the best dog for you and your lifestyle.
