I thought the Olympics where about skill? ?

NBC has responded to complaints and claims that its Olympics coverage was tinged with some homophobia.

The net's Olympics President, Gary Zenkel, issued an apology for the NBC reporting team's failure to mention on air that gold-medal diver Matthew Mitcham is g*y and has a partner, who was there rooting him on. That's in stark contrast to the Peacock nets coverage of straight athletes an their partner.

I thought that the Olympics where about skill not sexual orientation

  1. How are all divers g*y? Matt Mitcham doesn't seem g*y at all. Tom Finchum on the other hand.......

  2. Like most people don't know that almost all of those divers are g*y anyway?  Let's get real.

  3. People should worry about how the athletes perform in the Olympics games, not how they make relationships.

  4. Hey, you up there, I dive and I'm not g*y. Same with my cousin. The sport does not determine someone's sexuality. Now if one of the male divers went up there and started doing his synchro partner in front of everyone or shouted out on the 10m platform "I'm g*y!", sure then he's g*y. Otherwise that's not your business and it's wrong to assume anything.

That being said, that's why I fully agree with the OP/Asker. Sports (especially the Olympics) should be completely about skill and leave all the fluff stories out of it.

I have nothing against any of the g*y, straight, bi, other, or asexual athletes either way. Just show me them performing their sport (in this case a dive), post the scores, tally them up, and give the medals.

I hate all the fuzzy-wuzzy story time candy they put in. No matter who it is.
