  1. Siam was what is now Thailand.  Are you thinking of Saigon?

  2. Siam was the name of Thailand at one time.

  3. Siam is located in Thailand

  4. As always, I continue to be amazed at the willingness of people to display their ignorance and foolishness on Y!A by posting incorrect answers about things they know nothing about.

"Siam" is the classical name for the country now legally named Thailand.  Many Thais still call their country Siam.

You can get all the information you need by doing an internet search on the name "Siam."

(Siam is not an old name for Viet Nam.  That's ignorant.)

  5. Siam is not Vietnamese, maybe it's XIEM = belongs to Thailand

  6. vietnam is what was once called siam

  7. Siam is Thailand. Vietnam is another country.

But maybe Siam was indeed mentioned in the Vietnam war movies that you saw. There were American air-bases and naval bases in Thailand during the Vietnam war. In fact, many of the planes that conducted bombing runs on Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia took-off from American air-bases in Thailand. Also, many American soldiers took their R&R (Rest & Recreation) to either Thailand or Hong Kong when not in combat duty.

  8. Siam was Thailand's name previously, you are likely thinking of Saigon.

  9. Don't know about that.  Siam was the old name for Thailand, I think.

  10. Siam is the old name for Thailand.

You may be thinking of Saigon, which is a city in Vietnam.

  11. Siam=Thailand

  12. Siam is in Thailand not Vietnam.

  13. siam is another country (Thailand)
