I thought there was a setting on my computer that can hide my ip address?

I was told this would help with keeping your computer secure? Where is the setting?

There isn't a setting like that on your computer and hiding your IP or not really doesn't matter when it comes to security unless you have your windows firewall turned off, no virus protection or anything else protecting your computer and you plaster over the internet that you have very valuable information. For complete protection I suggest the following:

1 Anti-virus program

1 Anti-spyware program

1 Firewall program(unless included with your anti-virus)

1 Real time protection program(such as ThreatFire)

Mozilla Firefox

To hide your IP when browsing sites you just use a proxy site which can be found by typing in "Proxy site" to any search engine.

Hello,

Great answer except one point: it's really hard to find working proxies on free websites. I tried many websites and many software programs and I found just one free software that worked well. It's called ipsharkk and it seems to work really well, except it sometimes freezes for a while, but all in all it works really well, always changing my IP.
