It was not a huge amount but it was obviously blood and my lower stomach is very upset now. I'm drinking alot of water to make it feel better but I'm worried. What's wrong with me?

  1. This happened to me too. I had taken too much advil for my period cramps and ended up breaking down the lining of my stomach. I went to the hospital, and would suggest that you do too, just to make sure. They gave me some green liquid that numbed my mouth and told me to lay off the advil for a while.

  2. Most likely ulcers.  Do you take a lot of ibuprofen for menstrual cramping and headaches?  Ibuprofen is notorious for eating up stomach linings.   There are dozens of things that can irritate your stomach.  I'd try taking some antacid or a preventative antacid like Prilosec for a few weeks and see if it goes away on its own.  If not, you may need to see a doc for further tests.

  3. It's likely a perforated duodenal ulcer. You need to go to the nearest urgent care clinic or hospital emergency room RIGHT NOW.
