  1. Oh my, you have ruined the carpet, there is no way you can fix it.....Sorry!

  2. There isn't much you can do to reverse the damage at this point.  Probably the best thing to do is to have a patch of matching carpet set in at the place where you used the bleach.  If you have extra carpet from the install left over that would be ideal.  However, sometimes it is possible to get extremely closely matching carpet to make repairs.  Try to get a professional carpet installer to do the repair.  Another thing you could do is rearrange the furniture to cover the spot, especially if you are getting tired of the old layout.  You could also lay down a throw rug over the area, but try to make it work as a natural part of the decor of the room.  Whatever you decide to do, good luck.  I hope you reach a satisfactory solution.

  3. The same thing just happened to me about an hour ago, luckily it turns out that you just might be able to save the carpet (despite what other people/'professionals' here are saying). There's a service some carpet places provide called 'carpet dyeing' where they fill in the bleach spot with the original color. Similar to repainting something that may have lost its color. I found this place with a google search www.colorfulcarpets.com, unfortunately for me they are not available in my area, but maybe they are in yours (or at least a similar company).

    I hope this helps.

  4. Bleach is the worst thing you can clean carpet with.If you scrub it. It will eventually eat through your carpet. Best choice is to replace it or put a rug over it.

  5. Yep you wrecked it depending on the original colour of the carpet you could try a matching colour boot polish or felt marker to try and put some colour back in both of these will be temporary and may be hit and miss but you have all ready stuffed it. Try a built in wardrobe if you have one for some spare carpet for a patch if you choose this but must be done by a good carpet layer. Hope this helps best of luck..

  6. Oh dear you have literally bleached the colour from the carpet and there's no way back!!  Rug or strategically placed furniture your only hope!!!!

  7. I saw that you are in a rental.......uh-oh! So sorry that happened.  I did the same thing in our first rental.  We just ruined the carpet in the bedroom........anyway.........I would suggest calling a large carpet compay.  There really is no way to fix the spot, but I agree with the other answer that you might be able to patch that spot.  Also, the carpet company may be able to dye the carpet for you.  I would just come clean to the landlord and offer to forfeit your deposit, or help cover the cost to repair the carpet.....maybe they were going to put in new carpet soon anyway...(yeah, right! landlords will leave in the same carpet for a thousand years....lol)

    Best of luck to ya..........

When you do have to go to the landlord........just remember a dose of humility and remorse will get you far in the forgiveness department! Plead youth and innocence.  We all make mistakes.
