I told a customer that i cant give free stuff coz she is not regular by my knowledge

i work at an icecream shop. a customer got a quart of icecream. she wanted some free cones with it. well the cones are given for free to regular customers only. the person got annoyed coz i charged her. when she said she usually gets it for free, i told her that she is not a regular by my knowledge. how bad did i handle the situation?

  1. I would have given them to her for free & just explain what you did, that she was not familiar to you.

    If she was that annoyed she could have asked for the manager.

    I think you handled it responsibly.


  2. You should have gotten your manager. Or you should have just given the cones to her. I donn't personally agree with the way you handles the situation.

  3. that's a dumb rule to have in the first place.  Either always give the cones free or never.  Businesses aren't allowed to hand pick prices based on the regularity of a customer.  So...there's no way you could have handle the situation any better given the unfair practices of the business

  4. Not to bad. I would have called a floor manager to verify. But I think you did fairly well.
