I'm a 24 year old female and I've been with my boyfriend (who is Mexican) for 5 years now and up to yesterday my mom didn't even know I had a boyfriend. I broke the news to her yesterday and she started to cry. She's a very closed minded traditional Middle Eastern woman and I understand her views, but will she ever come around. I mean everyone always says things will be ok and she'll accept it one day, but I know real life is not like the movies and sometimes it just doesn't work that way. I have 3 older sisters (who are married to Armenian men) and I told them about my bf a year ago and they don't want anything to do with him. They have even goen to the extreme to say that if I decide to marry him that they will not attend my wedding. My older sister has made many rude comments such as I'm desperate and I can't find an Armenian guy to date me. But in reality I have dated many Armenian guys and frankly I have always ben hurt and they never treated me as well as my current bf. My bf just completed his MBA, treats me like a princess and wants to marry me within a year and a half. Should I just say **** it and go with what my heart wants or repect my family and break up an amazing relationship I have??? I appreciate your advice.
