  1. well if you try turning it over and it doesnt do anything, not even click, then its your battery guarenteed. If it clicks, its your starter, but that still doesnt explain why there is no power...so i would just buy a new battery or get someone to give you a boost and you'll know for sure which one it is..good luck!

  2. Why did you take it out? It may have a poor connection or be low on power. See if you can get a jump start from a friend. ADDED....from what you say, I suggest replacing the cables.

  3. You don't say what kind of car it is, however, 1 possibility is a poor cable connection at 1 of the battery posts.

  4. the battery terminals aren't making good contact, take them ogg and clean them with a wire brush and reinstall them and make sure there tight.

  5. It's probably just the connection.  Clean off the battery terminals (Coca-cola works, or a wire brush - be gentle), clean off the cable ends, then really tighten the cables onto the battery terminals.  Sometimes a weak connection will allow some accessories to operate but not others.

Plus, most auto parts stores offer free diagnostic testing.  So you can take the battery to them and they'll tell you whether or not it's good.  But it's unlikely that it died overnight while not connected to anything.
