I've been driving a 2002 Honda CR-V for the last 2 years. It had about 59,000 miles on it when I got it, and it has about 73,000 now. The car was in nice shape, but I got into an accident last week with it and AAA (my insurance company) said it's not worth repairing. Anyways, I haven't got the money for it yet, but I'm guessing it should be at least $8,000. It never broke down or had engine problems, and gas was pretty cheap compared to other cars. I liked the SUV style because I was higher off the road, and I like agile trucks as well, but I would consider a car.

Looking for quality and gas efficiency. But I like an agile vehicle that can make make sharp u-turns as well, etc. What would you recommend?

  1. Pontiac Vibe 03-04

    Hyundai

    Santa Fe V6 03

    Sonata 04-05

    Nissan

    Frontier 01-02

    Pathfinder 02

    Xterra 02

    Toyota

    Matrix 03

    Highlander 01

  2. If you're willing to downsize a little, go with a vibe or matrix.  While not as big overall as the CR-V, the front passenger seat folds flat giving you up to 9 linear feet of space and still being able to close the hatch.  The best part is the EPA rated 32 MPG (36 by 2007 standards).  Very affordable, well built (both are on the Toyota platform), and reliable.  Also sits high like an SUV.

  3. Sounds like you really like the CR-V.  Just get another one.

  4. Take that $8000 and put it towards a new CR-V. Sounds like you won't regret that purchase a second time. If you want agile cars, look into an Acura TL (the new body style) or TSX. They're essentially Hondas with bells and whistles.
