I- touch IP address help?

when I try to access the internet in star bucks or a place with wi-fi my I-pod senses the connection/network but doesn't receive the IP address can some one help me with this problem without me getting a new i-pod

There might be a WEP key. Which is a Password. I Think you have to go to the counter and ask them for the WEP key so you can access the Internet.
