I tried to solve using the Quadriatic formula and can't solve, can you help?

x^2 - 7x - 1 = -7

  1. If you can factor it is way easier then going through all the steps in the quadratic formula.

    x^2-7x-1=-7

         get the equation to equal zero, to do that in the equation add 7 to each side

    x^2-7x-6=0

          now factor the equation

    (x-1)(x-6)=0

          set each possible answer to zero

    x-1=0      so, x=1

    x-6=0      so, x=6    

    so the equation has two possible answers

    x=1  and   x=6


  2. You have to get rid of the x^2 first.you have divide (x^2-7x-1)1/2 or 2/1 to get rid of the power then from there you can solve for x.

  3. its (x-6) (x-1)

    or if you have to solve for x its x=6 and x=1
