  1. It all depends on how long ago it was when you bought it and where you bought it from. In the end it could come down to it being your fault for not getting a history report on it. Check the lemon laws for your state to see if you fall under that category.

  2. Were you led to believe that  this vehicle was new when you purchased it? if so you have been defrauded by the dealer and can take legal action to be made whole. Also there is no such thing as a car with no value it has to have at least a minimal worth even in the most severe accedent therefore I would suggest that (a) you sell your car privately and (b) take your business elseware when you make your new purchase because the people you are dealing with is trying to take you for an expensive ride... Hold on to your wallet!

  3. If it was properly restored after the accident, then it is not true it has no value.  It may be low because of mileage, or may be a model he has no market for.  Many car lots are full of large cars that get poor gas mileage, that have little value because nobody wants them.

I do question how you could not know of a previous accident, though.  If you are in the US, a "rebuilt" status, or similar wording, should be on the title.  If it isn't on the title, then the accident wasn't serious enough to write it off.  If you are in Canada, it should be on the registration card.  Again, if it isn't on the ownership document part of your registration, it wasn't serious enough to write it off.

What year, and model is your car, and have you looked at selling it privately?

  4. You really don’t have many options because once you bought the car you are stuck with it and its history unless whoever you bought it from wrote in the contract that it had never been in an accident. Try and get a carfax report on the next used car you buy or try selling it yourself. Dealers will sometimes say it has no value because they do not feel they could sell it. If you have been driving it and it is inspected then there should be no problem selling it unless you know a guy that you simply buy the inspection sticker from.
